Clogherhead Co. Louth 2nd May

#1 Post by grangebellew »

People: myself and some tourists
Time: 7:30pm
Duration:2 hours
Tide:rising
Weather: north east gale

Bait: lug tipped with mac
Rigs:2 hook flappers
Results: 1 Ling and another big something that fell just before landing:cry:
Catch and Release:: Yes

There was a big swell with north east gale, got 1 big bite and took a big effort to get it in. Just before landing it wriggled one last time and fell off :cry: Couldn't see what it was... :twisted:

Then another knock on the rod and amazed to see a Ling on end. Beautiful fish, with superb coloring, must bring the camera next time...

Hi Lads,
The fish had a long body, four (?) small tentacles on its head and a beard underneath its chin. It had brown and golden freckles along its back to the tail and a white underneath...
