Beach outside Clonakilty - towards Galley Head

The ould fella has a vague recollection of a beach outside Clonakilty in the direction of Galley Head. He believes there are competitions fished on it regularly. Any ideas?
Evidently he forsees fishing this weekend while I have a more Kinsale 7s, pint bottle of Bulmers kind of view! :lol:

probably the red starnd. dont really fish it much but have had bass, flounder, codling, coalies :evil: , small turbot and heard of bream, although like alot of the beaches down here it is really dependent on weather conditions
shore species 2008(25):dogfish(3.1lbs), bull huss (12lb 2oz), bass, shore rockling, coalie, whiting, pollack, conger (22.4lbs),flounder, thick lipped mullet (4.8lbs),turbot,ling (11.2lbs),ballan wrasse(4.5lbs), cuckoo wrasse, pouting, poor cod, cod (9.5lbs), dab, 3 bearded rockling, long spined scorpion fish, corkwing wrasse, plaice, trigger fish, sea trout, garfish

That was what I thought it might be alright.
He thinks otherwise but its the only one I could come up with.

Standard beach gear suitable?

ya should be fine.relatively flat beach so could even use a bass rod.lug, mack, peeler and sandeel should sort ya
