Kilmore Angling Festival
Any reports on how the fishing was during the Kilmore festival? What beaches fished well? What types of fish were caught?
Entries now open for the All Ireland Shore Cod Championships on November 29th hosted by Sea Angling Ireland SAC

The first night of the festival was fished in Ballyhealy / Bastardstown to the west of Kilmore Quay. Stephen Brennan won with 20 fish (i think) which included a bream.
The fist day of the festival proper had a turn out of just under 100 anglers and was fished in Furlongs Road, Kilmore. Fishing was fairly poor with around 18 fish winning. Zone A in The Burrow was best with mostly flounder and a few codling and whiting.
The second day was fished on the east coast beaches of Tinnaberna, Morriscastle and Ballinamona. Fishing here was excellent with a bag of 25 - 27 winning. These were mainly flounder, dogs, whiting, bass and codling. Morriscastle fished best with the other two beaches being won with bags of 20 or more swell.
All in all a great weekend and defo one to put in the calendar for next year.
