If there's no fishing at least let me know where there's an Irish bar so I can watch Armagh win their 2nd All Ireland (bad planning on my behalf , will be away on 17th when Armagh stuff Dublin in their own backyard ... if Laois don't beat us to it !!)

Have been loaned a villa in Alicante in September. Anyone know anything about fishing in or near Alicante ? Either shore or charter ?

Its called fishing, not catching. If it was called catching it wouldn't be fishing!

I was in La Manga a few weeks ago - its a good hour and a half at least away from Alicante I would say. Plenty of locals fishing although very few catching.
I managed to hook this little fella on a small section of ragworm - i know it's not the best of photos but does anyone know what it is?

There were guys using big baits at night there but I have no idea what they were after. It was huge big worms they were using, almost like giant grubs.

species
it looks like a bogue, difficult to be certain given we have only a view of its backside! A common small species in the Med and warmer Atlantic...

Time spent fishing is never time wasted...
2015 targets - a triggerfish, a specimen bass, a three bearded rockling to complete the set and something big and toothy from certain north Mayo deep water marks

And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.

Alicante fishing
Have fished a bit there. Most of the locals float fish. I tried spinning and caught some mackerel like fish....possibly Spanish mackerel. They fought like hell. The locals had their mouths open as they just don't seem to spin. Bass can be caught and September is apparently the best month. From the boat the usual med-fish are available but not in great numbers. It's a big sea that it over fished.
