What hooks for scratching?

Well it's almost that time of year again when the shore fishing becomes really slow and we've to make do with any bites we can get. Just wondering what hooks does everyone use on their scratching rigs. I got some mustad aberdeens in size 2 & 4 but they're not great I don't think. A bit heavy and the wire is not that fine. Any recommendations???

alby there is a good topic on forum somewhere(?) that covers this. b940m are a great start. suma are good and owner pint also. some lads don't bother with these and use standard b940's and still catch well. think about how you fish and how you present your baits, for example do you want to thread the worm up the hook(b940m) or do you want to head hook a bunch a small king s(owner pint).

Alby if you go too small you can b pestered with too many undersize...

you cant go wrong with the size 4 kamasans their strong too so even if you hook something nice whilst scratching you should have no prob landing it !!

i use size 2 kamasan b940. nice and cheap, but will still land a good fish.

twice as cheap as owner or gamakatsu and still the best hook around by far !!!!!!!!!!

Come to think of it, has anyone had a prob with the owner?

I've had several bend very easily and snap(not in fish)!!

yeah !! had one break in a 8lb thornie in kerry last year but it was only the once . luckily enough i had just landed it and was trying to pull it further up the beach when it broke !!!!

i found some of the owner patterns very brittle myself, but hell of a sharp hook!

Yeah i have noticed that myself with the owner hooks that they break easy enough,wereas with the Kamasans i found that they tend to just bend and not snap(well not as often as Owner)
