Portaferry - 13/01/07

#1 Post by drewk »

People: Just me

Duration: 5 hours - 5am - 10am

Tide: High at 6.20

Weather: Blustery and cold

Bait: Mack and rag

Rigs: 2 hook scratcher

Results: 4 whiting

Catch and Release:: Yes

Report: Thought I'd give Portaferry a go for a change as the winds where a bit high at Donaghadee and Ballyhalbert. Lots of weed about still after the weeks storms and I lost a couple of rigs to it. The whiting where caught close in but dissapeared as the tide changed. Nothing until I packed up at 9am to go to Walter Rocks but once again nothing there. Got a tip from a local walking his dog about a little mark which I'll have try some time soon.
Entries now open for the All Ireland Shore Cod Championships on November 29th hosted by Sea Angling Ireland SAC

How do you go about fishing this mark? I had a go for a couple of hours today, and lost my gear every single cast :evil: Weed everywhere

I would opt for a 5 or 6oz lead on a pulley rig with a rotten bottom and hook thats easy bent.If there is much weed about dont go any further than 20 or 30yds.On a good night the fishing makes up for the tackle loss.Either way its a great mark.
