Back of the pier wandering been the bits know as the "Elbow" (yacht racing hut) and the "Shelf".
Those Present: Me and a brother and the biggest multi-national collection of makeral bashers and skangers I've seen in a very long time.
Duration:8hrs
Weather:Very windy, westerly direction. the odd shower
Bait:Ragworm & frozen sand eel
Rigs:bomber/ 4oz gripper, 2 hook trace
Results:
PROS: Very good on the fishing front, caught a really good smooth hound, terrific fight made more difficult by the thick weed and an interested seal. Had lost one a few weeks previous so was determined to land this one.
Tons of mackeral around brought home a few for bait myself, caught them on bits of sandeel while trying for anything else. Got 4 small flattities and only two doggies between us for the whole day.
CONS: Too many mackeral bashers, everytime I was baiting up the 2 or 3 of the muppets would take my spot, will have to say lots of prayers for all the swearing I used to get them to move.
Disappointed at the take EVERYTHING home approach by most of those around me and the large volumes of bulmers and royal dutch around, thought there was a F*%king offee on the pier. Two blokes besid me filled a black bin bag between them......pure greed in my opinion.
Best non fishing moment: laughing a two little skangers trying to the get the cork out of a bottle of white wine without a corkscrew.
Obviously uppersclass skangers.
