Gel Coat Repairs

I recently bought a 3 year old 20ft boat from a dealer. After 4 weeks of light use it developed a crack in the gel coat in the hull about 2mm wide x 50mm long. I brought it back to the dealer who told me it was a stress fracture. He filled the gel coat and said there was no apparent damage to the fibreglass. Does this sound like a proper repair? How should such a crack be repaired? Any advice would be much appreciated.

I'm no expert , but that looks like a proper crack !! I suppose if it's filled properly it should be OK. Ask Jim or Luke or some of the lads who've run their own boats a while !

I'd be keeping an eye on it though if it were mine!

Thanks Conor. I have taken further advice and am having a proper inspection done next week.
