Hi
Out with Mary Gavin Hughes yesterday and the fish did not co-operate.
Apparently the blast of ultra hot weather has not done wonders for the fishing. I had been warned of this going out.
Set off with warnings of a 40 kph NW wind from Rockfleet and drifted into some of the better spots in the islands, picking up 1s and the odd pair of mackerel per rod.
As warned from someone this week, it proved very hard work.
Mary in fariness motored out to spot all across the islands and eventually we ended up on offshore marks facing between Mulranny and Croagh Patrick.
There we started to pick up small pollack, with one or two nudging 2 kilos.
Wind picked up so we moved a bit closer the north shore.
This was as good as it got, pretty shocking but in fairness to Mary, she kept going and we stayed out long long past the appointed return hour.
She was very disappointed. I'm heading out on a Skate trip in a few weeks, will post that up then.
A bad fay fishing beats a good day in the office: when I got the macks home, surprised to find how good sized they were. A small bonus.
