9th trip of 2024

fancied a smoothie hunt so a few texts to a mate and plans where made for the bank holiday weekend. It was normally a casting Sunday but with the grass too long casting was cancelled. So a few hours sleep and I packed the car drove to Belfast picked up Louis and headed south for Wexford. It was an early tide so travelling at midnight there was very little traffic so we made good time and landed at the first mark a little early. For some reason there was a stiff onshore wind and a very strong tidal pull, but we gave it a go and fished the last 1 hour of the drop and some of the flood. As the tide turned i managed a chucky bass of around 5lbs, but the flooding time was pushing up onto the stoney bank we where fishing from so for safety we decided to find a sheltered mark. We arrived at the second mark a short drive later but there was no parking and I remembered that a match was to take place there, so we went to a third mark. This beach looked great as the wind had died down and the sun was starting to heat up, there where a few breakers but you could cast beyond these to flatter water. We fish it hard using all manner of baits from crab to sandeel, mackerel rag and even strips of squid, but we could get a bite. Fished until 12 noon then called it quits, packed up and went to get fed, this is the second smoothie hunt Louis and I have been on and I being to think he is a jinx.
