8th trip of 2024

#1 Post by MC »

second fishing trip in a week, its good to be off work. Anyway I headed to a local swilly pier armed with sandeel in an attempt to target rays, normally a good venue as it gives you access to deeper water. I was suited and booted and baits in the water for 10pm, and straight away the crabs started. Baits where lasting about 15minutes before hooks came back bare, but patience paid off as after 2 hours I landed my first doggie of the year. There was a fury of activity for a while as i landed a further 3 doggies before the crabs started again. That was the story of the night and talking to another angler there he mentioned that he noticed that the rays are late this year, but I know they are being caught somewhere so I will keep trying. As I was packing up a couple of lads arrived to fish and they said they where at Rathmullan and portsalon piers and that both are closed off for works. So next trip I might head deeper into Donegal and try a beach mark I know.
