Howth and Lambay island

Tried for macks around Irelands Eye but they were scarce with about 10 in an hour. Went to channel between lambay and portrane .Got more macks and loads of herring. Anchored up and tried for tope with macks and herring baits. Got 1 small Ray about 4lbs and nice huss about 10lbs. No tope but nice to be out again.
Too many lures ... not enough time...

I've had too many days in recent years where I'd have been delighted with that catch rate!
2013 species; 31

2019 species; ballan wrasse,blonde ray, coalfish, cod, cuckoo wrasse, dab, dogfish, flounder, goldsinny wrasse, ling, mackerel, plaice, pollack, poorcod, pouting, scad, sea scorpion, spotty ray, spurdog, thornback, tub gurnard, turbot, whiting.

The "Herring " we caught were Scad as it turns out. Never had one before and very similar to herring. Yes it was a good day out you are right johnwest.
Too many lures ... not enough time...
