Poulsallagh 18.10.20

#1 Post by jonney »

Duration:
09:00-12:00

Tide:
Low tide at about 13:00

Weather:
Easterly Breeze, dry, dull

Bait:
Frozen scad

Rigs:
3 rods.
1 Hook flapper with pop-up bait, float with single hook, various lures.

Results:
Not a damn thing.

Report:
An odd choice of times considering the tide and wind, but it was the only time I could make it.
And it looks like it will be my last opportunity for a while.
So I set out for a potential mark at dawn that I had spotted via maps.
But it was not to be, got to the end of the road, on the satellite map it looks like a walkway to the coast, but it was actually over a farmers land with some livestock around. So I moved on to Poulsallagh.
I set up bottom rig at various distances, float at various depths and tried spinning with a couple of lures while the bait sat undisturbed.
Zero signs of life in the water. Not even the usual crab issues.
Only excitement came when I nearly lost all my gear over the edge when a bird crashed into it!
A school of Dolphins passed by as I was pulling out. But even they were only passing through.
Entries now open for the All Ireland Shore Cod Championships on November 29th hosted by Sea Angling Ireland SAC

Cheers, I was more gutted by the first fishing mark not working out. Thought I was on to a winner with that one :(
First time in Poulsallagh though and it was a grand spot. I think I'll try there again.
