Rathmullan Pier

#1 Post by mymegankate »

Hi, I wonder if someone can help me. Im going on holiday to Rathmullan next week and I wondered if anyone could give me any advice/information on fishing Rathmullan Pier. What are the best baits/rigs etc and also where is the nearest tackle shop to Rathmullan that would sell bait. Thanks very much

Nearest tackle shop: http://www.loughswillyanglingcentre.com/location.htm

This lad stocks a full range of Ammo baits and a decent selection of sea fishing tackle.

Should be a few mackerel available off the pier. Spinners or feathers will do fine for them. Or float fishing, if you prefer.

For bottom species such as the flatties, a 2-3 hook trace, small wire hooks, mackerel tipped with squid. Tides are strong, so a 5-6oz gripper might be an idea.

Dawn or dusk might see you in with a chance of a ray, sandeel on a pulley rig would be your best bet.

Dogs are pretty much a certainty, they're not particular about rigs, baits etc.
