Wexford 29/30 June

#1 Post by Deleted User 3488 »

With the lifting of the dreaded restrictions we headed to wexford for a couple of days.
First day we tried an estuary mark hoping to land a gilthead but it was a weed fest and no fish.
Second day we fished a pier from mid water up using pulley rigs and rag worm for bait.
There was plenty of action with smoothound to 10 lb and a double figure fish lost at the steps of the pier.
A surprise catch was a 5lb bass taken on rag while targeting the smoothies.
The Brother also had an 8lb and 10lb hound
What came as a surprise was that all the fish were caught on rag worm ,courtesy of ruairi in swords angling , crab or lug accounted for no fish.
All fish were catch and release.

Wow monkeywrasse, a great day's fishing! This is my nearest mark and I've never caught a bass there! Then again never used rag much at this spot. What a result, shows once again that the crab isn't always required to get big fish! I actually fished across the bay from the pier this afternoon and blanked, but that's definitely motivation! Great fishing and great report

Great fishing Monkey wrasse! Some super fish there! I fished that pier twice in the last few weeks and blanked using frozen sand eel and squid. I’m sure Pat and the lads from Loughsinny sea angling are a lil jealous!

Great session monkeywrasse, I'm at the exact location at the moment, heading to the pier down at Duncannon, freshly dug local lugworm, reliable Dublin ragworm, frozen sandeel, frozen squid and a handful of peeler.

Thanks for the report
