Wrasse on lure

Going to try dingle lighthouse and brandon creek for wrasse and pollock.

Do the wrasse take lures and soft plastics down there? Looking to catch my first one and make it my go fish to for the colder months.

Also I see a few post about dangerous surf around the rocks, any apps/websites I can use to tell the wave height before leave the house?

Have taken wrasse from the boat on lures spinning. Have never tried from the shore I mush prefer the lazy way of float fishing with crab or maddies.

Weather forecasting wave heights are a bit of hit and miss on the internet. Look at heights of tides, wind speed, wind direction and atmospheric pressure.
1014mbar is the middle line, below that and it's a low pressure. The lower it will go the rougher the sea will get.

For safety I'd always apply the 10 minute rule if the seas look a bit lumpy. Just sit back from where you intend to fish and watch the waves and how high they are going up the rocks.
Also take into account that if you are fishing an incoming tide that mark could flood over without you noticing it

It's a solid idea, but I have no faith in the froze bait I have access to atm. Might bust off some limpets tho.

Wrasse love softlures! I rig them weedless (dont go too big on lure size), cast out and do little bumps over the bottom. Most will be hooked under your rod tip. Make sure you have strong hooks, I have had many a wrasse straighten hooks on me. Good luck

Hi, Donal been keeping an eye on the met report for dingle at for Saturday and to me it's not looking good. Just looking to confirm, the wave height report by met, will that ignore tide height/movement.

At the moment the wave height goes from 1.25m to over 4m, over the course of high tide. Just wana to make sure this is a coincidence.

Well against all odds, circa 30 fish landed, 3 lost including a conger. But, not a single wrasse, ha.
