does anyone have an experience of this area - and its potential

i find it confusing as to whether the flats is the mark east of blackhead where a lot of people fish off the rocks or a mark further east again closer to ballyvaughan where there is a penisula towards ballyvaughan itself

the third (bottom pic is the flats)
good for pollack, doggies and thornback ray.
many other species can be caught here too

When driving from Ballyvaughan to Blackhead the flats are where you come around a bend and the road runs right beside the sea. There is a life buoy there (or was.) What you said in an earlier report about the rubbish etc... is correct but you can catch mackeral there in minutes and move on. The seagulls are a right pain when float fishing. Its a nice handy place to fish if there isn't too many people around.
The spit you talked about earlier (where the fisheries sign is) looks really bassy. You see loads of mullet on the inner side of it in the summer. Looks like a good place to collect bait at low tide (and you fancy a walk.)
