Hi any beaches that have vehicle access and fishing opertunities? Anywhere from Drogheda to Wexford I am based in Dublin.
Vehicle is a very well maintained Discovery 2 with lockable center diff and Traction Control with good all terrain tyres.
The missus wont come with me unless the car is beside us, and I mean right beside us. Night time would be only fishing time.
Many thanks for any advise.

The coastline from old Bawn to curracloe is accessable by 4x4 at a good few locations .
Just be careful when driving on send the wife on foot to make sure your path is clear and no one is walking towards u as u don't want to stop suddenly in sand.
The pressure in your tyres will be a more important to you than your diff lock or traction control .

Have you not bought the bumper sticker "You can go fast but I can go anywhere"
I've a Pajero sports, 4X4 + Low 4, handy when the going gets soft.
As above, if you want to stop just take your foot off the peddle the jeep will stop on it own fairly fast. If you hit the brake fast or hard you will dig yourself into a handy size hole
I've drove on the soft sand at Ennerilley, drove onto the beach at Dods rock and onto Ballyhealy over the soft sand before the car parking ares.
A bit of speed on the soft stuff helps. If the beach looks ok to drive on I try not to use the 4 wheel drive until I feel I need it

Thanks everyone sofar, I have the tyre pressure under control I will try 18psi and have tested down to 12psi in a carpark without rolling the tyre beads off. I have my spare (on tailgate) pumped to 80psi with a valve controlled hose and adapter that gets me quickly back to nearly road pressures, and 2 decent quality 12V air compressors on board.

Never left the air out of the tyres, sounds a little time consuming. I've 265/70/16 on the jeep plenty of rubber on the ground.

Re: East coast beaches you can drive onto 4x4
I was in Rossknowlagh during the summer,it's disgrace to see such a beautiful beach ruined by hundreds of cars.
I have friends who live there and they say that the beach is destroyed with rubbish after them all
I don't think anyone would mind a single 4x4 driving on a beach in winter
