Line change on fixed spool

I am planning to change the line on one of my fixed spools which has the line it came with still on it so I dont know the breaking strain or diameter plus it has had a lot of use.
I was planning on using Sufix synergy monofilament 19lbs breaking strain 0.35mm and in red if that makes a difference as I had been given a 1000m spool. I was wondering would this be a decent and strong enough line to use as a main line? I would do most of my fishing from the beach and some pier fishing. Also if there is any advice on how often you would change the line on your reels?

Sounds right.
What size of reel are you using? What capacity has it?
19 lb is perfectly strong enough for most beaches. .35 is average for mono.
The only issue with piers would be snags and muck on the bottom and the size of any congers lurking there...

For a start bin the line it came with straight away, sufix lines arent bad 15-18lb mainline is plenty for any shore fish over here unless fishing very rough ground

have a look at the spool and see the line capacity on it if it is more than 200 metres of .35 only take off half the old line and use the rest on the spool for backing purposes.you very rarely need any more than 150 metres of line on a reel.the rest is usually never used.

This would come with the caveat that you tie a really neat knot and you take off enough old line, so the knot doesn't come into play when distance casting

Kieran its a 7000 size reel and the lowest rating on the capacity is 245 yards of 0.40 my next reel I get I will make sure to get one with a spare spool to have for piers. what would you recommend?

My knowledge of knots wouldnt be the greatest I know of a few to join lines together but to be safe I may just strip the lot off and give it a good clean while im at it.
