local information would be most welcome - plan to head to the SE for a few days, if the right window opens!

Is a licence needed to fish the river for shad?

They have arrived (last Wednesday / Thursday) and fishing seems to be frantic for a day or 2. The fishing seems to have slowed down considerably though. Lads are fishing long sessions for 5 - 6 fish.. but they are there.

I was down on Saturday and it was very quiet until the later afternoon. I noticed quite a few dead Shad due to careless handling. At least six dead in a foot of water. Just remember to do your best to give them the chance to swim off. Lovely day though.
List 2010. fish

List 2011: less fish

2012: less fish again,

2013: even less fish.

Any more reports, the competition last weekend had 11 fish overall - how many took part I wonder?
Thinking of heading down tomorrow for a go at them

I was down there Friday and Sunday evenings.
I arrived on Friday at about 5pm, nothing until about 7 then I had five fairly quickly.

I had nothing on Sunday, but had to leave sooner than I would have liked.

The fisheries officer there reckoned the main body of fish had not yet moved up, so with some warm weather the bigger tides on the Bank Holiday weekend may be worth a shot!

Hey, nice to meet you down there! We stayed on about an hour after you left and had maybe a half dozen more but then hit the road back to Dublin as well. Hard days fishing but still got a get few between all of us for all the hours we put in,

Might do Saturday so. If anyone wants a lift from Dublin I can probably take a few people. Maybe aim to get down for lunch time.
