Conger in Duncannon Harbour/Ballyhack?

#1 Post by Teegerstk »

Well lads do yas have any advice on targeting conger in Duncannon Harbour or maybe Ballyhack Pier? I've heard that you get them on the outer pier under the fort, so do I drop a line outside the pier or into the bay? Do I need a line stronger than 15lb and what bait is best? Wanted to target them as they are a savage looking fish, sorry for posting so much topics recently. PMs welcome

Thanks lads

Your going to need already 40 pound line and a rod with good back bone boat rod is advisable I like to use half mackerel but some people do it differently as for the area I'm not great but have heard of them being caught from there

What hook size do you reckon? 4/0?

Ok I have an 11ft bass rod would you say I'd have to get a boat rod for one?

How do I find that out? It's not a very high quality rod at all. The brand is SeaTech 11FT Bass 'Action 60-120GM' it was the only info given with the rod.

You best bet mate is to buy a cheap strong boat road with a bit of backbone in it but not to heavy as you don't have to go ruining any of your other rods

Yeah I've picked up that they like to hide in holes in the pier wall made by the churning of the water by boat propellers, so I'm thinking of dropping a line near the end of the pier near the boats but not too close.
