Collecting bait
Hi all, I'm going to dig some ragworm down at the wooden bridge in dollymount during the week but I also want to dig some lug. Is it possible to get them off the beach? Also if I dug them on friday would they still be fresh enough to use on monday or tuesday the week after? I usually buy my bait on the day so I havent a clue how long it lasts.

Re: Collecting bait
To start keeping your own bait the first thing you will need is a fridge for non domestic use. Wash and rinse all baits after digging. Rag can be kept in trays of weed or damp paper. The less per tray the better. Lug can be kept in a shallow tray of sea water. Keep spare water in the fridge and check the baits every day removing any dead or suspect bait.
If all fails build up a good relationship with a tackle dealer and they will look after you.

Re: Collecting bait
Thanks for the tips lads. I don't have a bait fridge so I'll have to disguise the bait as food in the back of the fridge and hope no one checks it
