New Reel Recommendation

#1 Post by privatepile »

Hi All
I took up sea fishing last summer and really enjoyed it. This summer im hoping to upgrade some of my gear. During the winter months i had being buying different spinners, lures rigs etc every week.

I am using a 12ft beach caster with a very basic reel. I want to upgrade the reel but dont know where to start.

Most of my fishing is from rocks, piers etc. I normally switch between 3 hook flappers with mackerel strips to lures, spinners, feather strips etc.

I have being looking on sports direct and came across this reel on sale http://www.sportsdirect.com/fladen-chie ... e=94907599

Would this reel suit my needs?

Maybe if someone knew of a better reel they could link me to it. My budget is around €50. I dont mind buying second hand once its in good condition. Im living in Kerry but can pay for postage.

Thank You

Shimano reels are usually very good quality. Also a fixed spool reel would be more flexible so would suit your need better IMO.

See link to sample reel

If you rod is rung for a fixed spool reel then a multiplier will not be the best option. http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/foru ... =1&t=47659

not too sure of the quality of this reel but from old experience Fladen gear would not be the best on the market

Thanks for the replies Lads, Il ditch the multiplier until next year and get a proper rod. For now il go with the fixed spool reel.
