sheep head peninsula

I heading down here in may 15 and 16 Ave checked the site for marks in on the peninsula and there is only 3 shown any more info would be great I have fished the bear but can't travel far from the sheep head as wife is with me and she is doing some knitting festival there any info would be great send a pm if you want thanks lads

I've fished there three times in the last few years and never blanked the pier and rocks just a few miles past the airstrip is excellent for a bit of lrf.

back across the rocks from that pier conger and dogfish, rockling , spin for pollack.

the airstrip itself near bantry can be fished for huss, dogfish and ray in front of the carpark while the sandy bottom at the end of the run way can produce flatties.

on the durrus side there are a few piers and small rock marks and sand patches at the end of nearly all lefthand turns from durrus to kilcrohane pier.
I've had pollack, conger, rockling, silver eels and mackerel from kilcrohane pier there's also a bay behind the pier on the road in that produces bass but much later in the summer.
I never managed to get to the lighthouse as there are so many good looking spots on the way.
Im guessing you could be looking at a few summer visitors like triggerfish and bream but I haven't had a chance to test that theory yet.
that's just from my own experience and fishing two spots per visit and staying overnight.

I think that yarn festival starts on the saturday in Durrus and moves to various spots from there to Kilcrohane. If you are down on the friday do a reccy from Durrus towards Kilcrohane and as Dave says every left turn brings you to great fishing spots, you will be spoiled for choice and I doubt if you will meet another fisherman. If I am down that way before the 15th I will let you know how it's fishing.

i have fished for pollock down that way on occasion, im my opinion the outher side of the penninsula to kilcrohane is a great location to fish,if you drive out of kilcrohane heading towards the lighthouse, there is a turn to your right about 10 minutes from the village which will take you over to the other side of penninsula, there you will find a cove with a holiday house located nearby, it was that house that the two foreigners went missing from early last year, if you remember that incident.
Park up here, looking out to sea you will see three seperate outcrops of rock to your right, be oprepared to walk about 40 minutes over mountainous terrain to get to the furthest one with the deepest water, here you will find ample pollock to a nice size using any lure, in my opinion the fire tail rubber worm i find is fantastic for mr pollock, anywayds i hope the weather is kind to you and enjoy the few days,

I usually start on the bantry side and use that rd to go towards kilcrohane cross country.
next visit I will go straight instead of left to kilcrohane.
like the beara the sheepshead is undiscovered fishing terrain for 99% of anglers.
