For anyone else's benefit...

no.1 is it to early for the ray and huss at the start of may
no.2 is there and camping beside were you fish
no.3 is there much of a walk from the car and will the car be safe
no.4 were is the best mark to fish
no.5 what baits and rigs work best
no.6 what is the best stage of the tide to fish or does it fish all stages

1. Not too early, never had a huss here but lots of dogs in amongst the rays, don't overcast into pure sand or you miss them
2. green fields but you would need permission from the farmer, no campsite near except in Westport House (about 10 k away)
3. bit of a walk from parking off the hardcore road down a long field, two fences to cross, about 500 metres all told
4. the elbow that juts out a bit, almost facing a gap between two islands
5. anything seems to work, mack and sandeel will pick up the rays
6. the main issue is that you need strong line as you are fishing up the tide from 2 hours in and will have to land fish through a very heavy weedy margin, with the rays expert at kiting in underneath it. Waders and a long handled landing net will help. Beyond that you don't need to cast far, in fact the mistake you might make is casting too far onto the sand. You need to cast into the edge of the weeds where the rays are hunting...
7. def fishes best on the incoming tide from hours 2 to 4, not sure where the rays go after that... dogs and whiting very common too.

Good luck and please post a report...
