Re: Shad at st.mullins
Hi
The annual Shad competition is on the 3rd of may this year but the run is affected greatly by the weather in the lead up to the higher tides at the end of April beginning of May.
In my experience the bad rains in previous years have delayed the main run by a week or two and if your lucky enough to get a days fishing at the right time the fishing can be unbelievable,
hopefully the sun will be shining when those big tides rise.

Re: Shad at st.mullins
What colour taz or cobra works best for u lads . Looking forward to the trip down for them ... Great crack on light gear .... I find the blue and silver Tazy very successful ... What's your best lure for them

Re: Shad at st.mullins
Blue/silver Taz seems to do the trick but all of the tazzies seem to work even the pink one and the Rasta colour have got me fish when no others will.

Re: Shad at st.mullins
about 30 anglers took part in the annual comp, numbers down due to weather with a coloured barrow and flood coming down ,probably was not fishable but with people there it went ahead, it was won by Alan burke with a small shad, the only one caught all day, well done Alan ,eddie.......

Re: Shad at st.mullins
Was down Thursday - Sunday and the fishing was extremely poor. Didn't meet one angler that had a Shad. With the easterly winds, cold temps and dirty water the Shad we gone off the boil. Will give it another shot on the next big tides.

Re: Shad at st.mullins
Sorry I didn't get back to you on this one. No Joy that day, but the odd one was being caught. The river was Gin clear. AS you can see from the recent reports the river will be muddy for some time with more rain due over the next few days, it's hard to know when it might fish well again. Most likely towards the end of the Month.corbyeire wrote:any joy Mac? ta
