Well, how are you all?..I was going through some of my gear and was looking at my LRF setup... at the moment I have 6 lb braid on it but it'd looking a bit frayed and worn out....
I was just wondering if I could replace it with mono, say 4 or 6 lb???...
Would it be just as good??...

A Flurocarbon or stiff mono will be just fine especially for close range stuff.

You could always just reverse the braid so the frayed line is on the back of the spool and the fresher braid is being used to cast.

I got 4lb mono... now.. is it worth while putting a leader on it..say 8 lb line and give it a few turns round the reel?..

Re: Using mono for LRF?
I wouldn't - casting and presentation will be way better with straight through 4lb; especially with lrf gear.mackfish wrote:I got 4lb mono... now.. is it worth while putting a leader on it..say 8 lb line and give it a few turns round the reel?..

I like a short flurocarbon - say 3ft - via a swivel to the hook but less that your main line lb.
