Thank you and happy new year

#1 Post by Dave78 »

Since about 2010 i got back into sea fishing slowly , about mid 2012 i started going everyweek then twice a week then three times a week and so on , pardon the pun , im well and truley hooked at this stage.
Last year i had a target of 20 to 25 species i manged 31 , which im very happy with along the way i learned how to scratch for bits and pieces when not even a dogfish would oblige.
Thanks to all who helped and advised me since joining the site,
I met up with some great anglers and fished with them all through 2014 and learned a lot and passed on what i could.

One question id like to ask is about match fishing, id love to join up with a club this year based in cork, i see SAI run comps all over the country which appeals to me but doesnt go hand in hand with my job, i work weekends and nights, any recommendations and is there anything stopping me from joining SAI and another club and only fishing comps on dates that suit me is their a minimum number i must attend? How much to join? And fees for comps? Any info on any of this would be brilliant , i know its 1 rod 3 hooks max, i would be a pure novice to match angling so any info at all from hook size to rods and reels would be cool.
Thanks

go to the munster secretaries on IFSA.ie - this will give you an idea of clubs based near you
you can join as many clubs as you like
each have different rules for their master angler etc. for example there could be 8 comps and your best 6 go to the clubs final league table
so no prob joining SAI

most clubs are around 40 to 50 to join - comp fees between 10 and 20

after that the info is only given in a haphazard way - the knives are out - its competitive
