mackerel season in howth

when is it good to start fishing for mackerel of the cliffs at howth, anyone know...???

Mackies normally arrive in May, then head back out of casting range for a few weeks in June. July will see an increase in numbers, with August and early September being peak times.

Steve thanks for your reply. have been down there a few times over the past 2 or so weeks with nothing caught, just thought i missed the season...Ill wait till july and give it another go....Thanks again

i was out der for a while now and im only getting pollock if thats any use!! macks will be in in early july
