Should of stayed in bed

#1 Post by Morgan44 »

People:me

Duration:3 hours

Tide:rising

Weather:lovely

Bait: rubber lures

Rigs:

Results:poor

Report:found myself a cracking pollock mark earlier in the week west of cork , had over 40 pollock in three hours up to 5lb they took any rubber lure I put across them , kept 2 all the rest went back and swam off strongly . Decided to return this morning early with camera and have some fun and take some pics . Parked up with not a person in site walking down the cliff to the mark and saw a load of seagulls down on the rocks , got down there and found them feeding on the head and guts of over thirty pollock . Not the best start to the day . Obviously my super special secret mark is rather well known and has now been abused . Started fishing and after two hours had two small mackerel and a pollock of about 2lb .

Then spent 15 mins playing hide and seek with some lads up on the cliff , I hid behind a big rock and they chucked stones at me . After about fifteen minutes they got board and stopped and I took off up the rocks like a demented welsh mountain goat to carry out my part of the seek part of their game . Getting up the cliff with my priest in my hand I realised a couple of things , firstly they had buggered off and secondly I'm not 18 any more and if they had been there they would of had to give me 10 minutes to get my breath back and stop wheezing .

Got back to the rocks again and fished on and had a nice bass of about 4lb follow my lure in three casts on the trot but turned away at the last second .

Next I cast out and twisted my back , lay on the rocks for twenty mins not happy then spent the next two hours painfully making my way back to the car not in the best frame of mind with my humour not at it's best !! Only to find someone had written in the dust on the bonnet of my car " f##k off back to Englund " now I know I'm no genius but I did go to school every now and again and even I know that the two things you won't find in England is the letter U and Wales !!!!

Now lay on the floor in bloody agony and sky has just packed up and I realised I have left my fags and lighter down on the rocks , a wise man once said that a bad days fishing is always better than a good days working , I need some convincing of that today I can tell you !!!!!!!!!!

Cheers guys , if it hadn't been for the back I would of been laughing at it in the end , made it to my feet this morning hobbled to the window and saw my neighbours kids washing the writing of my car , faith restored in the human race , all I need now is the magic cigarette fairy to turn up and life is good .

One thing I've noticed , I have been lucky enough to fish all over the world and with fisherman there's no colour , religion , or where your from your just a fisherman and as a fisherman everyone I have met or spoken to over here has been brilliant . I'm welsh but this is now my home . There are idiots everywhere , back home and here and they certainly won't bother me in my love and pursuit of fishing in this beautiful country .

Back is on the mend thanks , so saddening to see so many pollock taken in obviously one night . They will just end up in a freezer and be thrown out at Christmas to make room . Think that was the most disappointing thing out of it all , except for leaving the fags that is Have thought of a few ideas for next time , either the slingshot , bow and arrow , beach caster and a six ounce grip lead or just napalm the the little shits , had some fags delivered so all happy now , will be back there in a week or two hopefully to see if there is any fish left .

It's true about anglers accepting you once they see you get the same buzz they do out of angling! Just because your Welsh isn't your fault! You didn't ask to be born there! :-D
