Annual Ring of Kerry trip

#1 Post by I Love Sea Fishing »

Hi Folks

Making my annual trek across the sea to the ring of Kerry. Staying near paradise bay in the campsite near caherdaniel I think..... Anyway I am after a turbot can I catch them on the derrynane beach? I have my conger/pollack marks near paradise bay. But targets are turbot, rays and congers. Big pollock welcome too. Last year I was lucky enough to get a 3.45lb trigger fish.

Is there anywhere I can dig rag/lug and sand eels?

I appreciate it's a lot of questions If you don't with to disclose marks etc then not a bother

Thanks,

Jake

Hi Jake,
Great part of the country. I have only fished for Mackeral off the rocks and tried some kayak fishing once or twice.
You should be able to get lug in Caherdaniel Harbour, in the far left from the pier.
I chatted to a gent who got plaice with lug regularly from a kayak.
Two weeks ago another fishing kayak charter guy said that the mackeral were scarce close to the shore.
There was a lot of bait fish out deep and they had not come in.

The small harbour on Lambs head could be a good mark.

I hope this helps.
