Hi all
Was at Curraghbinny recently and discovered the pier. Has anyone fished there recently? Saw a post from a few years back that was a bit sketchy but was wondering if anyone has been fished off it recently?
Struggling to find spots for spinning, float or bottom fishing in and around the Cork harbour area, normally fish Church Bay but lose so much gear there, also tried Ballycotton, and Cobh Pier but these can get very busy...
Any help is appreciated

Church bay is a bit tackle hungry alright. Bull rock is a better mark. It's below the old Helem hotel north of church bay. If you ask a local they will point you in the right direction. It's well known. Currabinny is mostly small fish. There are plenty of mullet there but there are far better marks to fish for them at.

Helm hotel? Been searching on Google maps, I can see 'The Helm' at the end of a Road named Weavers point....is this the spot you are referring to?
Or is near the Church Bay hotel?

Curraghbinny would be more of a winter venue. Fished at night mainly for small whiting, cod and coalfish. The odd dogfish will turn up giving you a mild heart attack until you realise it could be a dog. Its tidal so the slacker tides are best. watch out for leisure boats passing as you are fishing into the channel. A 50yd cast to the right will have you in 30' of water.
The Helm hotel is long gone it is converted into a block of apartments.
On the right conditions, out the right hand side of Roberts Cove, will throw up a few fish, Mackerel if they arrive, pollack spinning, wrasse and pollack on the float and strap conger bottom fishing.

Re: Shore Fishing Curraghbinny, Cork
I had a few mackerel there last summer and some very small whiting and coalfish during the winter just gone,
I found a site on-line where the author claimed to take a a lot of gurnard there, I spent many a day and night there trying for them without any luck.

The helm hotel has been converted to apartments as already pointed out. We still call it the helm hotel, apologies for confusion. It is as you say, at the end of the road named weavers point.
