#1 Post by ark rose glenn »

try fishing at the 'hole in the wall'. it's back towards howth a little and you can reach it from the road. more room for parking and no hassle :)

The Golf course has to allow access but they do not have to allow parking. Ring and speak to a manager, you might get permission to park.

I'll be ringing them and finding out thanks. But for those of u who have fished it where did you park ... It's just that I always see anglers on it and just assumed they parked at the golf course

Lads, its a private car park for members of the golf club. Whats the problem?

And no, I'm not a member before you ask. Just park at the gates outside the road into the golf club and walk around to the point - it's less than 5 minutes. And if its a nice day don't leave anything visable in your car, there have been a lot of break-ins there over the last couple of years.

The fishing on this stretch has been awful this year - try it by all means but you'll probably be better off going elsewhere.

You can park at the level crossing on Burrow Road and then walk down along the shore beneath the golf club, or else go up Burrow Road a bit and there's a path down to the beach along the side of the golf club (green gate marked "Cush Cottage"), then you can walk along the beach to the point, both ways about 5 - 10 minutes. Either way will have water at the top of the tide so bring your wellies,

Some lads also cycle down the golf club road, don't know if they get any hassle, but it keeps their feet dry.

You can wade out onto a spit there but be careful the current is outrageous when the tide is running and it drops off very steeply into a channel. On an incoming tide it can fill in behind you as well.

That's grand lads thanks for the info. I understand why it's private coz they would have all sorts of people coming threw the club and filling the car park which limits the carpark for club members . I was just looking where to park . So I'll be parking at the level crossing at burrow road and walking down . What is the best set up for fishing this mark with the current being so strong what way is best to fish it

I fished there last Wednesday, and surprise surprise I blanked. I was lure fishing into darkness the place was alive with mullet. I was talking to some locals they said best fishing is March April mainly for Seatrout. I was not driving got off train at low tide and walked up the side of channel.
