Probably it's stomach from having been pulled out. Was it deep hooked?

Cool lads before u start to think im a fish butcher im not I had a friend out with me who is only starting out with fishing so I spent a lot time helping him rig up and bait and wasnt paying enough attention to my own rods. Should I have tryed to push his stomach back down? He swam of no problem hopfully he can sort himself out. Prob not doh should of eating him maybe

Just out of interest. Anyone ever tried using circle hooks? They are supposed to help avoid this but I don't know how well they work.

Re: weird thing in dogs mouth?
I've been guilty of this too unfortunately when dogs are on the feed and hit the bait fast right when your about to do something or prepare another rig and you say to yourself I'll leave him at it till I get my next rig ready , generally they do be deep hooked then . Only way to avoid it is to strike them as soon as possible for a lip hook , also I have had heaps of dogs that are lip hooked actually throw up their stomach themselves too ! So don't worry too much about it
