Sligo shore marks

#1 Post by johnthefisherman1 »

hi everyone
new to site here. i used to fish quite regularly but fell out of the habit.
recently received a silstar pier rod/reel and have been out last 2 evenings. got 2 pollack (around a 1/2 lb) off the breakwater in mullaghmore earlier this evening on mackerel strips and was fishing into the channel in rosses point lastnight, got few bites on mussel, but unfortunately didnt land anything. any other marks near here worth checking out?
regards

thanks for reply fishmad. i live very close to lissadell but have never anything about fishing there. any info?

after some quick googling i think it was more likely that those 2 "pollack" earlier were actually coalies. got 7 more of them, 10-20cm, off the end of the pier in rosses pt tonite around high water

streedagh is always good for a few fish to beat the blank - most of the sandy beaches produce something
lissadell seems really shallow and muddy - dont know if it would be much use - probably best to scope it out and see are there gullies and channels you can reach

to be honest ive never blanked and just fished either left or right after coming through from the carpark
im sure some locals have hot spots on the beach

i remember if theres a good swell it can surge so keep your wits about you
