Garden worms for saltwater fishing

#1 Post by lad123 »

Has anybody ever used garden worms or the worms that you find underneath pots, stones, etc for sea fishing ? I was thinking of giving them ago at the weekend in an estuary ? Would I be wasting my time ?

Earthworms will die quick enough in salt water, my father used to use them for sea trout years ago!..there doesn't seem to be as many of them about as there used to be.
sure, its not raining between the showers!

They will work for flounder far up in a estuary but there are way better baits to use

I've caught flounder and eels using them but the usual rag lug and crab will catch you more fish.

They wont have much in the way of baity juices for open sea, but I've read reports that sea trout can go mad for them at the mouth of an estuary. Usual caveats: Licence required, and season not open yet.

Ive heard if u crush red brick on them it toughens them. Some old fellas i was chatting swore by them. They couldnt believe i was paying a fortune for rag when these were available. Stilll
