The Ledges - 24/05/06

#1 Post by glengormley-gavin »

People: Me and the bro

Duration: 19.45 - 23.30

Tide:HT 21.00

Weather: Nice evening, slight N wind, sea relatively calm

Bait: Rag, mack, sandeel.

Rigs: 2 hook pats & clip downs, pulley pennel & scratching rigs. Also several lures/flasher rigs on spinning gear

Results: 2 x LSD, 1 coalie, 1 three bearded Rockling & 1 pouting

Report:

We decided to hit the Ledges last night for a few hours. It was a nice evening apart from the big ugly trawler we seen at Garron Point - thankfully he avoided Red Bay and headed up the coast.

We had only 1 small coalie on the spinning gear which was disappointing, we used all sorts of lures including C Bars, Norwegian Herring, fire tail jellies, flasher rigs etc....

All other fish were taken on scratchng or 2 hook pat rigs and all took ragworm. One of the LSD's caught was around the 2.5lb mark and it fought like a bugger on the way in

All in all it was a good night with a fair bit of banter with a few other guys who were there from Larne - unfortunately they spanked us on the fish count :( :( :(

All the best.
