Pier fishing for Codling

#1 Post by Chris T »

Hey all,

I realise I'm looking for the Holy Grail but are there any piers around Wexford/Waterford area that would offer easy enough codling fishing? By easy I mean the sort of fishing my 13 year old son could manage!

try Passage east beach in waterford, drive onto the peir and the short beach is on your right as you look out to the water. 2 or 3 hook flapper hook size 4 to 1, with a 20 -40 yard cast will pick up codling ,flats, eels, coalies in daylight but darkness is better. this is a slopeing beach so NO wadeing or going into the water, longer cast can pick up bigger fish (use clipped downs),grip weights will be needed on stronger tides, baits crab and lugs.
