im planning a long drive to Wexford to target flounder next week, weather permitting
im aware that Wexford can offer some of the best flounder fishing in the country but some local knowledge would be invaluable to me, and hugely appreciated
I would really appreciate some info on exact marks please, and exactly how to get to them!
am thinking of Kaats Strand and Ardcavan in Wexford Estuary (anywhere else there?) but primarily Lacken/New Ross (River Barrow) and Bannow Bay directions
PMs very welcome. strictest confidence on any info supplied on marks
would maybe even appreciate a fishing buddy too as I will most probably be travelling on my own
all fish will be returned
thanks in advance

Re: Flounder fishing Wexford info please!
I dont think new ross would be much good to be honest
if you are in the new ross area you could drive to Arthurstown (just a half an hour away) where you can catch nice flounders. If you fish in arthurstown you will be fishing the waterford estuary. Duncannon is just a few mile outside arthurstown and u can dig lug on the strand. You could dig ragworm in arthurstown.
I think bannow bay would be worth a try , crab is best bait if you go there.

Re: Flounder fishing Wexford info please!
From what I'm hearing Kaats strand isn't fishing too well these days, a lack of fish combined with small catches is making for very poor fishing.
There's a fine line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot

good info fishfeatures, appreciated. I was dubious about Kaats strand and may just rule it out now! thanks for the responsefishfeatures wrote:From what I'm hearing Kaats strand isn't fishing too well these days, a lack of fish combined with small catches is making for very poor fishing.

Re: Flounder fishing Wexford info please!
You could do far worse than the Waterford Estuary, you have alot of options both venue and fish wise and can target Flounders only if required but also have great sport with many other species close by too. Either way ensure you bring crab or order on route,
