waterford cod

as its that time of the year again goin to try for a few cod but dont have to much time to spare tryin out tactics so any tips for these boys would u use a full crab or half or even 2 crab or cocktails would the first couple of hours of the tide be better or droppin tide any info welcome thanks

fish a 3/0 pennel pully with long snood and match your bait to the hook size weather it be a small to mid crab or a large one cut in half as for tides it all depends on were your fishing the river can have a very strong run on it so 2 hours b4 lw and 2 hours after but you will get fish if they are about the hole of the tides once you can hold bottom

nice 1 was watching the river on friday tide was goin out and u woudlt,nt believe the amount of fish breaking the surface that would hardly be cod would it

Call into Waterford Outdoor and Angling centre and tell the lads you are going fishing for cod, then listen, get some crab and you 're sorted for the year! :D It's that simple, you won't get any better info from any better anglers!

pully/clip down pennel
2/0 or 3/0 crab and lug big lug baits want to put a load on and maby tip with crab legs watch the bites it very easy to mis a cod pick up ur bait and spit it back out agen.with tide depends were you fish as tight lines sed but in the river always on the rise and maby a hour after

Anyone know if Tramore beach is fishing at the min? or should I keep drivin to Youghal? headin down today

I got some small cod there last week haven't been down ther this week but it has a nice chop on it the past week so ya never no

Thanks Chris, went on to Ardmore after, got a few coalie and a bass, good craic!
