Hi mulletman, There is one bit of advice i can give. If you are fishing a flooding tide, keep an eye on your exit. the North bank can flood the channel behind you.

i used to fish there a few years back...id fish the middle of the river at low water until your pushed off it by the tide,think youd need crab too down there as well

best advice i can give ya is drive straight past it and try inside youghal harbour  
 serious though pilmore is after turning into a barren waste land fishing is very slow out there with a long time. i know a lad who have about 30 hours fishing with only 1 flat to show for his efforts
