Newbie - Dublin cod?

#1 Post by DessieD »

Hi folks, managed to get a few shore outings over the summer and loved it. Just wondering what options there are going into winter (Dublin). Young kids so can't really go too far for too long.

What kind of shore fishing is an option in the Dublin area over winter? Any preferred baits etc?

Thanks, love this forum, great way to get back to fishing.

There's cod to be caught alright,

All the usual marks, corbawn lane, killiney, the 40 foot (nighttime only). The back of bullock harbour will produce the odd big one too. Lug & crab is the bait on all the venues.

Bug rock in dun laoighaire (behind rainbow rapids) usually holds loads of small codling to lug. The cold weather will thin the junkies out aswell!

Pier marks are a good option around this time of year too as they usually hold fish, offer comfortable fishing and are less prone to being choked with weed.
It ain't easy but it sure is simple!
