Vacum Sealers

#1 Post by Pyreneenguy »

I was just wondering if any of you have used a vacuum sealer for preserving bait ?

I'm a long way from the Atlantic coast and it would be good to have a supply of bait ( sand-eels ; squid ; mac etc) on hand for my occasional trips.

The next few months are the best for big bass , meagres and turbot.

Once vacuum sealed, how long will sand-eels stay fresh in a fridge ? Is there anything that needs to be done to the bait beforehand e.g a few hours in salt ?

Frozen vacuum sealed sand-eels: are they any good ?

Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.

Just place them in ziplock freezer bags and squeeze all the air out, then freeze them.
Excellent Winter bait.
Here's a good video of how to prepare sand ell as a bait.
