Duration: 5pm-9.30pm
Tide: rising and falling
Weather: Brilliant
Bait: Feathers, jelly worms, rag, mackerel
Rigs: various
Results: Pollock, ballan & cuckoo wrasse, pouting, poor cod
Report: Mackerel, mackerel everywhere. Had to pull boat into Youghal quays to collect my nephews………….a nightmare

Mackerel were in and loads of people lined the quays. As I approached weights and feathers were being thrown over and all around the boat. How stupid are these people that they do not realize that a lead is a lethal weapon and that boats have a right to tie up safely

Anyway once the lads were onboard we set off to a deepwater mark. The problem was getting through the mackerel. In my last report I was wondering where were they. Looks like they took their holiday later this year. That said most fish were joeys.
Anyway the lads worked hard and managed to get loads of Pollock

. Most were a reasonable size and came up in 3’s. They also got some nice ballan and cuckoo wrasse

On the way in we trolled along the rocks for bass with Slugo’s and Savagegear eels. The lads managed some nice pollock on very light gear and Keelan caught a nice mackerel that was just over 1.25lb.
Most fish were returned.
