Best tide for mackerel/pollack
Lads might seem like a stupid question but I'm just wondering which tide do you think is best? I'm new to the game so haven't a clue. Went out yesterday morning for the high tide. Met 2 old boys who were on their way home and they told me that you need to be out before dawn to catch fish on the morning high tide. Was going to try off the rocks tomorrow between low and high water.

No expert myself. But I seem to catch pollack on any tide from rocks. Nothing of decent size doh, maybe theres a better time to fish for the bigger ones. Will u be float fishing

If you can get high tide to coincide with falling light....pollock will be got!!..
With mackeral, I reckon the incoming tide is best time to try for them...anything from 3 hours before high tide to 2 hours after!..I think the mackeral will be higher up in the water column when the tide is in!

Turner, haven't a clue about float fishing for them. What type of float, hooks would I need?
Mackfish, would the morning high tide be good? Good spots near where I'm staying are packed in the evenings. Myself and my young lads are only learning the ropes so don't want to be upsetting lads being a "basher" lol

approaching high as 2 hrs before and after as a roughish guide. Other variables perhaps such as the big one this year as there scarcity need to be born in mind
