Can anyone shed light on this "mark".
It seems to be in a constant state of heavy weed banks since January..
Flies infest the place and the stench is cruel..
Has this been fished with any success in the past and is there only certain times of the year it is fishable?
Also,
My brother is home with his two young lads in a couple of weeks and they are looking forward to a bit of fishing. Can anyone provide info on a few marks for Flounder/Dab/Turbot around Clare - this has to be the option as they are too young to take rock hopping..
Cheers

Even if it could be a bit hit and miss sometimes I would say Fanore beach might be your best bet PJ, try to get to the right side of the river, you can get good advice and bait from the shop in Fanore. Tight lines and stay safe! Everything failing fishwise, the youngsters can always build a nice sandcastle on the beach or explore the rockpools on the left side of the beach at low tide with a net

Re: Seafield - Quilty
If the lads are too young to fish the surf beach to the left of the pier (flooding tide into darkness is best) you could try:
- The pier itself: Spinning here can produce occasional bass. You need to watch the reefs which are only approx 40 yards out and will snag bottom tackle or spinners quickly if you hit them. You could also try float fishing here with lug. There can be lots of mullet here too.
- The rocks to the left of the pier (between pier and beach). There are a couple of easily fished rock platforms which can produce pollock, wrasse and bass. There is no climbing involved and as long as its calm they are safe enough for kids (I wouldn't bring them here if there is any fizz). Mackerel are a possibility on calm evenings too. Again best fished on the early flood to high water in the evening time although the bottom can be very rough in parts and you will lose some tackle. Spinning and float fishing might be a better option for the kids.
Lovely part of the world.

PJ try Cappa pier if it isnt too crowded, great fun for the kids small hooks and small baits and you never know what you could hook for yourself with a bit of a cast.
