Did you forget sumthing

#1 Post by andy k 85 »

Decided to head out last night to you use up the bait I had left over and try pick up a bass before the ban kicked in.Took the bait out of the fridge loaded up the van and off I set on my merry way. Arrived at one mark had a scout around and decided to head to another mark, arrived at the beach unloaded the gear put on my the layers got the boots on. After having a root around the van and a bit of head scratching, I realised I had left my bait at home on the counter top. Raging was not the word couldn't believe it, I was kicking myself what a gobshi**  . Off with the layers gear back into the van and headed home fuming.

Just thought I'd ask what's the worst thing you've forgotten when you headed off fishing

I remember a good few years back i went off with the boat for a days fishing, got to the harbour launched boat got everything sorted in the boat and went to start up the engine only to discover i had no petrol tanks in the boat  , i had filled them in the garage couple of miles away and left them beside the pump when i went in to pay for it. trailer unhitched at side of the road and i head off at break neck speed back to the garage and luckily the tanks were still where i left them :P 8)

left the paddle at home.

luckily I live 20seconds drive away, but had to leave fully loaded yak on the jettty..

If u rub the top of the tin on a smooth cement wall or kerb ,when liquid appears you have worn away the folded top of tin then insert something to pry open the lid ,its easy

Not fishing related but still unforgettable. :)
I drove a good friend of mine to his final state exam of the Austrian Classical Music Academy, which was about 83 miles away from home at the time. He was totally nervous throughout the entire duration of the drive, knowing there was something amiss but couldn't focus on what it was, so in order to alleviate the pressure he was playing air guitar as you do, desperate in his attempts to remember what was missing for the entire duration of the drive and he continued to do so even at the waiting room before he was called in for his exam, only to emerge through the same doors 15 seconds later, pale faced and uttering: I forgot to bring my guitar.... Needless to say, every time I've seen him since, this is my first impression of his personality and it never fails to bring a smile to my face, no matter what mood I am in. He is who he is and nobody is without failure or shortfalls, think about it before you judge someone. I just love these characters, the world would be a poorer place without them. I - or yourself, might be one of them in the eyes of some one else, who knows?

This too isnt fishing fishing related and its not anything ive ever forgotten, or ever likely to for that matter  but the girlfriend was telling me about things that people have forgotten in her sport (She does club level dressage leagues with horses), forgotten helmets and saddles are fairly common but the best forgotten items are people hitching up the horse box and forgetting to load the horse in, then driving off, or better still, people loading the horse into the box then driving off after forgetting to hitch the box.....

My own best, or should that be worst, forgotten item thing would be driving to a local mark in scotland, unloading the car and doing a final check that i had everything then setting off on the (what felt like) 5mile hike over fields and cliffs to get to the eventual rock mark, upon arriving at said rock mark i then proceded to set up my gear only to discover i had no traces in the bag!!!!! I had brought some with me but id left them in the car which was about and hour and a half hike away!!!!!

Another good one was a few of us were heading out on a pollock session, we jumped into the car and set off, wasnt until we were about 40miles from the house someone made the comment that the car must have been loaded up much better this time as there was loads of free room, it was then we realised we'd left without a single piece of gear..... We decided that maybe we shouldnt go fishing that day, so we went to the pub instead

I am forever forgetting my knife!!..I leave more times without it than I do with it..but maybe that's because I don't like carrying it or havin it in the car anyway, in case I get stopped for some reason. I've heard of a few people getting lifted for possession of a dangerous weapon after forgetting to take their knives out if the car or pockets!!!
sure, its not raining between the showers!
