Just Moved to Killybegs area

#1 Post by davidtorbitt »

Hi everyone, I've just moved to the Killybegs area and have been round all the various sites but I'm still trying to track down "Gunwell", can anyone give me directions or an idea of where it is?

I would gladly guide you towards, but unfortunately this spot is not as good as it was. I was out there couple of times last year and usualy I would be lonely angler and last time I have caunt as much as 14 anglers at the time, well I just turn around and gone to the different spot, anyway if you wish I can give you a directions for it, but I pesonaly will give a good brake for this venue.

Anyone else have any hidden gems that are not generally known about, bit of a stupid question really but no harm in asking.
I'm probably a beach caster as I'm getting on a bit now and have a wrecked knee from tooooo much rugby so I find it difficult climbing over rocks.

Go to mooneys beside the boatyard on the shore rd. Good selection of stuff upstairs . They will need a few days notice to get bait in though. Ask for ronan he should be able to sort ya . :D :D :D

Well, for a short walk, perhaps Fintragh beach is nearest to the area and sometimes can be quite good in spring

hi,
there is a shore mark map on the main page of this site - but you maybe seen that already?

http://www.sea-angling-ireland.org/shor ... %20bay.htm

i used it once to tour the side of donegal and found it helpful, once you get to an area marked on the maps you can use you angling intuition to locate some more marks to fish from because i naturally assumed the map is for more well known spots.

Use this site to explore the area: http://maps.osi.ie/publicviewer/#V1,591271,743300,0,10

The ortho option is excellent for scouting a mark from the comfort of your armchair.

Hey! when you're 20 stone and trying to hop over rocks with a busted knee with a whole lot of nasty stuff just waiting for you to slip up, the ortho option sounds just fine to me
