LRF in Galway?

#1 Post by gerty86 »

Hi Lads,

I'm considering getting myself a new lrf set up. I've been reading up on it and it seems like it could be serious craic. Seeing as the majority of fish I seem to catch ain't that big in the first place,it might make fishing all the more interesting!

I was wondering if anybody has anyone any experience with this style of fishing around Galway City? I was thinking that down at the docks and around Nimmo's pier might have potential. I'm trying to think of places close to the city where I could end up heading for an hour or two on a whim, instead of having to plan a bait fishing trip.

Thanks in advance

The slipway in salthill from low water up and the end of the pier in spiddal are two excellent spots for a variety of mini species.

Cheers Seaniebo. Thanks for the reply! By the sounds of things there seems to be a few spots around galway that are suitable for lrf. Most of the stuff I have read about lrf focuses around large harbours and I was a bit worried that I might have been wasting my time (and money) with this style of fishing in Galway. Hopefully it won't be the case!
