Daiwa Emcast sport 5500

#1 Post by corbyeire »

quick question for the reel experts out there

was fishing on saturday night and noticed the line not distributing evenly
bascially the spool holding the line does not go up and down as you reel line in

it sits at the bottom and the line gathers in one place
if i pull the spool to the top the line will be filled evenly as it turns and the spool moves to the bottom but whatever mechanism kicks it back up does not engage

has this happened to someone before? all my other reels tend to die with the ratchets not engaging and the line cannot be retrieved, this is a new one

is it bin time? i do have it 3 years so i suppose it doesnt owe me too much

maybe there is a quick fix that ive missed, but generally i find if its inside in the reel casing - i usually break it when i TRY to open it up

thanks for any replies

I'd say your spindle shaft has come adrift, Its just a matter of replacing the screws into the shaft. If your not up to doing this I can help you out.......let me know!!
